iPhone 15 is coming with USB-C port, but with a TWIST

After the European Union's order, Apple has no alternative but to include a USB Type-C port in its iPhones. Several leaks and rumours have suggested that iPhone 15 series would be the first iPhone lineup to include the USB-C port. However, a latest leak brings out the twist in this big change that is likely to happen on the upcoming iPhones. A MacRumors report quoted a Weibo post as suggesting that the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro's USB-C port and charging cables will come equipped with a Lightning-like authentication chip, which may limit their compatibility with accessories not approved by Apple.

As per the latest rumor, Apple iPhones will include a USB Type-C port but will come with its own custom integrated circuit (IC) interface for the port. Integrated circuits (ICs) are semiconductor chips used to facilitate communication between devices. While the third-party charging cables lack this chip, which can result in compatibility issues.

"The latest rumor seems to suggest that Apple has developed a similar custom IC for the USB-C ports on the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro, and presumably its charging cables. As well as the iPhone 15 lineup, the new IC is apparently destined for new MFi-certified peripherals," the report mentioned. However, it must be noted that the USB-C interfaces used by Apple in the 10th-generation iPad, iPad mini, iPad Air, and iPad Pro do not have an IC chip for authentication. This would mark the first time the company has included this feature in its USB-C ports.
Will this have an impact on the speed of charging

It's still unknown if the addition of the authentication chip could affect the functionality of the new iPhones or not. However, it is possible that Apple may restrict certain features such as fast charging and high-speed data transfer to only certain devices.

As per Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the USB-C port on the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus is said to remain limited to USB 2.0 speeds, which is similar to the Lightning port. While, only the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Ultra are expected to offer faster data transfer speeds.

PM Narendra Modi mocks Congress, Left for ‘kushti’ in Kerala and ‘dosti’ in Tripura

 

AGARTALA: PM Narendra Modi accused on Saturday the Congress-Left alliance of double standards for their “kushti” (wrestling) in Kerala and “dosti” (friendship) in Tripura, giving heft to the BJP’s campaign to retain office with his first visit to the northeastern state for the February 16 assembly polls.
“Beware of the double-edged sword of Congress and Left. They want to stop all schemes that benefit the people. Congress and Left know only how to betray the poor. They have countless slogans for the poor but have never understood or addressed their pain,” he said.

Addressing two rallies, first at Ambassa and then at Radhakishorepur, Modi cautioned that any vote for Congress and Left will take the state several years back. “Make sure every vote in Tripura goes to BJP. Your right choice, lotus, will take Tripura to the next level of development and prosperity. You have removed the Leftists and you are seeing the results today. Tripura is getting free ration, full ration. The dreams of the poor, tribal communities, women, and youth of Tripura have been crushed by Left and Congress. They forced people to leave Tripura,” the PM said.

In 2018, BJP won 36 seats in the 60-member assembly to end the Left’s 25-year run in office in Tripura.

In a veiled reference to BJP’s third rival, TIPRA Motha, Modi said: “The opposition wants to divide the votes. Some small vote-cutter parties are waiting for the election results, hoping to get their price. Those out with dreams of horse-trading, lock them in their homes now itself.”
He also accused Congress and Left of creating divisions among tribals. BJP has worked to resolve their issues, the PM said. “BJP is working to uplift tribals across India. We have rehabilitated over 37,000 Brus displaced from Mizoram in Tripura. Our government has introduced Kokborok in higher education.” He said the BJP government at the Centre has allocated Rs 1 lakh crore for the development of tribal areas in the Union Budget.
Referring to the fight against Covid, he said: “In a Left-governed state, a lot of people suffered from Covid and died, but Tripura was safe as BJP worked to protect people’s lives.”

The PM said houses under PM Awas Yojana were built for three lakh families, benefiting 12 lakh people, while five lakh poor people were made beneficiaries of Ayushman Bharat Yojana, and toilets were constructed in four lakh houses in the state. The first dental college in Tripura was also built under the BJP government.
Modi said in Gomati district alone, Rs 80 crore has been credited to the bank accounts of around 40,000 farmers, without any ‘cut’ or ‘donation’ He said BJP has freed Tripura from the atmosphere of fear and a culture of ‘chanda’ (donations).
The PM said there is peace in Tripura, employment opportunities are increasing, whereas the Left and Congress had shattered the dreams of the youths, forcing many to migrate. Listing initiatives taken by his government, Modi said Tripura’s economy will massively benefit from the Act East policy and it will soon become the gateway to Southeast Asia.
